Job Description

Supercritical is looking for a Lab Technician to join our lab research and development team, based in West London. The role will suit an applicant with a good background in lab-based experimentation. This is an opportunity to join an exciting and purpose-driven startup.

You will join an exciting and fast moving company that is intent on disrupting the energy industry and enabling a net zero future.

What you’ll do:

  • Conducting high-quality testing to support product development

  • Assembly and disassembly of test hardware and test equipment

  • Adhering to test procedures to meet research and development requirements

  • Assisting in the improvement of testing procedures and processes to enhance the quality and consistency of testing

  • Calibrating and maintaining equipment

  • Meeting testing deadlines as per the plan

  • Reporting any variances or issues that affect test results

  • Collaborating with a team to achieve goals

  • Strictly following all safety and operating procedures in the lab

  • Coordinating and communicating work with the wider team

Requirement

Ideally, you will:

  • Experience in lab-based research/testing

  • Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and a team-oriented attitude

  • Experience with high pressure and high temperature fluid systems, with knowledge of supercritical water conditions being an advantage

  • Experience in maintaining and operating test stands

  • Knowledge of risk assessments & good lab practice.

  • A passion for product development and a commitment to a net-zero environment

  • Strong organisational and communication skills

  • Proactivity and self-motivation

  • Knowledge of laboratory health and safety protocols

  • Ability to understand and execute standard operating procedures

  • Familiarity with unexpected results or issues

Desirable

  • Experience in electrolyser cell system testing

  • A degree in science or engineering

  • Basic knowledge of data logging and hardware control

  • Experience in automation, high-throughput experimentation, data science, programming, and research development

  • Knowledge of HAZIDs and HAZOPs

  • Salary: £30,000 - 38,000 - Experience Dependant
