Job Description
Electra is seeking a skilled Test Technician to support process development and deployment. This role involves conducting tests, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring diverse test systems meet performance and reliability standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background, data analysis skills, and a problem-solving mindset.
Responsibilities include:
Perform diagnostic tests and evaluate electrical/mechanical/fluidic systems to ensure compliance with specifications
Ability to be effective in a dynamic research environment where attention to detail, responding to change, and dealing with ambiguity are essential
Set up and operate testing equipment, tools, and instrumentation
Strong understanding of test data, ability to interpret, and prepare presentation materials
Uses data, technical proficiency, and problem-solving tools to advance testing and application of tests to improve processes
Assist engineering teams with troubleshooting and identifying root causes of failures
Works with engineering teams to set appropriate specifications, standards, or best practices
Collaborate with other departments to refine testing procedures and improve quality
Support prototype development, validation, and verification processes
Assist in commissioning and troubleshooting new equipment
Execute standard operating procedures, including fluid transfers, pH measurements, conductivity readings, and chemical titrations
Read, understand, and comply with all workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and company policies and procedures
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirement
What we need you to bring to the team:
5+ years of experience in a testing environment with hands-on experience using testing equipment, procedures, and instrumentation
Proficiency in data logging, reporting software, and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and test protocols
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt solutions when encountering varied but generally similar problems
Ability to conduct fact-finding to fully understand issues and determine the most appropriate response
Demonstrated ability to work independently with little instruction on daily assignments and general guidance on new tasks
Proven track record of delivering high-quality, timely work with accountability for results at the team or department level
Effective communication and teamwork skills with the ability to exchange technical information clearly with knowledgeable colleagues, clients, or customers
Experience mentoring or up-skilling team members while contributing to continuous improvement within defined and documented processes
What we want you to bring to the team:
Associate degree in engineering, electronics, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
7+ years of experience in a testing environment with exposure to mineral processing, steelmaking, or related industries
Ability to determine methods and procedures on new assignments with minimal guidance
Demonstrated ability to work on varied, non-routine problems requiring judgment, initiative, and problem-solving techniques
Proven ability to understand the implications of work and make sound recommendations for solutions
Experience coaching, mentoring, or up-skilling new team members without direct supervisory responsibility
Strong communication skills with the ability to interpret and explain data or information to audiences who may not be knowledgeable about the subject matter
Accountability for work quality and outcomes at the department or team level, with potential impact on related activities across departments
Benefits
Compensation:
The anticipated starting pay range for this position is $29-$32 and may be more or less depending upon skills, experience, and education.
