Worryingly, by 2050, the ocean could hold more plastic particles than fish! A key driver of this plastic crisis is the food packaging industry, which dumps about 269,000 tons of waste into our oceans every year.

But innovation is fighting back. Bioplastics are stepping up as sustainable packaging alternatives to conventional plastics, offering lower carbon footprints, recyclability, and biodegradability at end-of-life.

AlterPacks is leading this charge by throwing away the throwaway culture. They upcycle agricultural waste and food by-products, like spent grains from beer brewing and coconut shells, into biodegradable, high-performing food containers for many uses.
