Earth VC backs Treetoscope

Updated: Sep 13

TreetoScope has closed its Seed Funding Round invested by Israeli Champel Capital, Earth Venture Capital, SeedIL, and other strategic investors.

Treetoscope’s system provides farmers with advanced irrigation insights, while applying Artificial Intelligence technologies and utilizing innovative sensors developed by the company to measure plant water consumption in real time. The funding will empower the startup to aid with R&D, fuel overall growth, and accelerate commercial agriculture expansion in North America and beyond.

"This is an exciting time for Treetoscope because it will help our talented team get our groundbreaking technology into the hands of more growers," said Treetoscope CEO Dotan Eshet. "Our technology is unlike any in the Agtech space, and the funding will enable us to expedite our research and to expand, improve, and carry out our mission to provide farmers with the tools they need to grow more with less water and inputs."

The in-tree/plant sensors are easy to install by the Growers and directly measure water uptake in real-time. Combined with AI, integrated weather data, satellite imagery, and other remote data, Treetoscope’s irrigation management system provides growers with a more accurate data set to schedule irrigations easily, cut back water and other input costs, and ensure optimal crop health and production.

"Treetoscope products are unique, low maintenance yet long-lasting which will help farmers have more eyes and brains on the fields. With less water and fertilization required, carbon emission in our atmosphere will be easier to capture, while making our lives more prosperous." stated Linh Nguyen - General Partner of Earth Venture Capital.

Today, 70% of annual freshwater consumption is used by the agricultural sector, and more than half is wasted because of poor irrigation systems, evaporation, and overall poor water management. Through the technology Treetoscope has developed, farmers can save approximately 30% in irrigation expenses, increase the yield, as well as the weighted profits for the farmers.

To date, Treetoscope has secured more than $10 million in total investments, which includes grants from the Israel Innovation Authority and Bird Foundation, a joint Israel-U.S. government fund. The growth of TreetoScope’s significant sales volume is now concentrated in North America and Europe via collaborations with leading enterprises such as The Toro Company, Netafim, and Hektas, among others. The company also plans to expand to Asia in the upcoming years to help farmers grow more with less water and inputs.
