Our portfolio company, Kuva Space, has successfully launched Hyperfield-1B, their second first-generation hyperspectral satellite, aboard SpaceX’s Transporter-14 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, USA.

First contact was confirmed on June 24, 2025, at 12:58 GMT+3.

From Orbit to Insight in Under 3 Minutes

This milestone marks a major expansion in Kuva Space’s ability to deliver real-time Earth observation and AI-powered analytics across Southeast Asia and Australia—regions facing urgent climate, agricultural, and maritime challenges.

Like its predecessor Hyperfield-1A (launched in August 2024), Hyperfield-1B is a compact 6U CubeSat equipped with Kuva’s patented hyperspectral camera, capturing data across hundreds of spectral bands. But the power lies in speed: Kuva’s platform transforms this data into decision-ready insights in under 3 minutes. This drastically reduces the delay between sensing and action, empowering stakeholders to respond to environmental risks quickly and effectively.

Hyperfield-1B begins to fill one of Asia’s most costly information gaps: timely, field-level climate and ocean signals. We believe Kuva is opening a rapid window into ASEAN’s 100 million smallholder farmers and its $800+ billion agri-blue economy. By distilling over 100 spectral bands into actionable insights in under 15 minutes from data acquisition, it could shrink reaction times from weeks to hours, helping farmers, insurers, and coast-guard teams tackle crop stress, illegal fishing, and coastal hazards before they escalate,” - Tien Nguyen, Founding Partner of Earth Venture Capital.

Expanding Geographic Reach and Future Capabilities

According to Jarkko Antila, CEO of Kuva Space, the launch of Hyperfield-1B significantly enhances the company’s capacity to serve a broader geography and customer base, particularly across Southeast Asia and Australia. The mission also accelerates their efforts to support the defense sector with change and anomaly detection, further complementing other sensor technologies already in use.

At Earth VC, we’re proud to back Kuva Space as they build real-time climate and security intelligence for some of the world’s most climate-vulnerable regions. From orbit to actionable insight in minutes, Hyperfield-1B is a powerful example of deep tech creating real-world impact.
